Marketing Technology Senior Business Analyst

Role:

This Sr. Business Analyst is responsible for helping Marketing convert their ideas and goals into tangible technology investments ready for execution.  See yourself as a master listener and translator, working with business side peers to understand new ideas by capturing initial scope, features, and high-level requirements.  The role must quickly relate to and understand the business requester’s drivers, goals and needs; then he/she must translate and articulate those needs in a clear summary that outlines potential delivery scope.  Partner with internal and external technology experts and prepare new ideas for handoff to the delivery team.  This role will handle multiple ideas in parallel, working closely with the team Project Manager, the Marketing Architect, and the Director of Marketing Technology.  This Sr. Business Analyst has a front-row seat to the intake and prioritization process, identifying key stakeholders to speak with and starting to gather information as soon as the idea moves to t-shirt sizing.  This role may help set up new programs or facilitate strategy work as assigned.  Additionally, the role of the Sr. Business Analyst will:

  • Connect with peers across technology to gather idea background, pain points, the opportunity and major features
  • Work closely with delivery teams to evaluate a new idea’s intersection points with in-flight initiatives, the impact, and how features may need to be sequenced for a smooth delivery cadence
  • Coach business on concepts such as features, epics, roadmaps, and minimum viable products, in alignment with Agile work breakdown
  • Write clear and concise summaries that business partners agree accurately depict their request
  • Thrive in an environment of ambiguity and ideation, helping take those early ideas and make them a reality
  • Support the Director, Marketing Technology in other research as assigned for in-flight and on-deck initiatives

Responsibilities:

  • Defines, prioritizes, communicates, and secures agreement on project objectives and scope
  • Performs and communicates results of stakeholder analysis
  • Defines, estimates effort, communicates, and secures agreement on plan of business analysis activities and artifacts
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to elicit, prioritize, validate, and document testable, developer-ready business requirements
  • Creates professional quality project artifacts such as charters, requirement plans, business requirement documents, models, traceability matrices, and others as appropriate
  • Ensures that the solution design satisfies project objectives and business requirements
  • Liaises between business subject matter experts and technologists throughout the project lifecycle
  • Identifies and communicates risks and issues as well as possible solutions
  • Lead, coordinate, and support business analysis activities across a program or multiple business analysts on a project
  • Shares observations and feedback on internal business analysis practices, processes, templates, tools, and training materials as well as any information gleaned from external resources
  • Mentors business analysts, providing them and their managers with meaningful feedback on performance and development

Requirements:

  • 4 year college degree
  • Business or Information Technology degree preferred
  • 4 years minimum of business analysis or equivalent
  • 3 years of financial services industry preferred
  • Military education or experience may be considered in lieu of civilian requirements listed
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced active listening skills
  • Able to analyze and solve problems of a complex nature with little guidance and is often sought out to guide others
  • Adept in a large variety of elicitation, facilitation, and modeling techniques
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment, building rapport and relationships to develop an advanced level of organizational savvy
  • Advanced organization and time management skills
  • Advanced in conflict resolution strategies
  • Familiarity and experience with multiple business analysis methodologies
  • Advanced working knowledge of the company, industry, and/or assigned business domain preferred
  • Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and experience in more than one approach such as waterfall, iterative, or agile
  • Proficient in the use of web-based document repository applications (e.g., Microsoft SharePoint)
  • Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBATM), Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAPTM), or equivalent a plus
