This new role is a member of the Portfolio Construction & Guidance Oversight team at TD Ameritrade Investment Management Services (IMS). The role will manage, support and enhance the framework and parameters around the IMS products, Essential Portfolios, Selective Portfolios and the new tailored portfolio solution, Personalized Portfolios.  This role works with the team and third party investment consultants on constructing and oversee portfolio asset allocations, manager research and security selection. Portfolio risk, performance oversight, market analysis and collateral writing will be the primary responsibility of the role.

 

The role is analytical and akin to an assistant portfolio manager for new open architecture portfolios on the platform. The individual will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for the content that powers our education and sales support on managed portfolios, including preparing commentary and information presented to IMS Client Services, Portfolio Consultants and clients.

 

She/he will also interact with technology partners on critical services related to portfolio construction & management, model portfolio positioning and natural language capabilities. The third party technology services may be delivered via API to power an engaging digital client experience. The individual will gain exposure to internal agile development teams that design the digital client experience for the portfolios.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial market monitoring and analysis
  • Portfolio risk and performance calculation and review
  • Communicate portfolio updates and implications with a client experience focus in mind
  • Client content development and education- i.e. investment reviews and presentations
  • SME on client facing collateral
  • Support asset allocation research and fund manager selection process
  • Support and contribute to system and client experience enhancements and development

Requirements:

  • 4 Year College Degree in Finance/Economics
  • 2-3 years related experience
  • 2-5 years total experience
  • Experience and knowledge in financial markets and future trends
  • Experience with the investment management processes and construction of  portfolios for investors
  • Ability to analyze, construct and write market views for financial advisors, investors and TDA associates
  • Analytical, with knowledge of Modern Portfolio Theory, and other investment methodologies and behavioral sciences.
  • Familiarity or experience with large datasets, Morningstar Direct and Bloomberg a plus
  • Previous evaluation of mutual funds, ETFs and other investment products including SMAs, a plus
  • Interest or background in emerging technologies that are transforming the portfolio management discipline with a focus on optimizing the client experience, a plus
  • Series 65, not required at hiring, but required within 6 months
  • CFA or CIMA candidate preferred 
  • Military education or experience may be considered in lieu of civilian requirements listed
