Role:

The Senior Manager, Corporate Risk Governance, will be an integral member of the Corporate Risk Governance team and will assume key responsibilities around setting the strategic direction for the continued development and enhancement of risk governance and framework initiatives.  He/she will work collaboratively with Corporate Risk Management team, BU risk and control officers, and BU senior leadership to ensure the adoption of a consistent framework for the evaluation and mitigation of risk, along with the collaborating with BU partners to incorporate risk management best practices and standards into BU key processes/activities and risk and control monitoring programs. He/she will also be responsible for the management and oversight of the daily/monthly activities of the core Operational Risk Management programs and the risk management tool which supports them.

The Senior Manager will be responsible for the planning and preparation of risk reporting to support the meetings of the Enterprise Risk Committee and Risk Committee of the Board of Directors.  Additionally, he/she will provide management oversight over the preparation of monthly risk reporting for key business units, as well as any ad hoc risk reporting required by senior management.  
Additionally, he/she will be responsible for developing the strategy, as well as coordinating and delivering risk management training programs and risk management aids to the RM team and business units, as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

  • Set strategic direction for the continued development and enhancement of risk
  • Responsible for the management and oversight of the daily/monthly activities of the core Operational Risk Management programs and enhancing the risk management tool (i.e. Archer) which supports them
  • Builds strong partnerships across the organization to ensure that risk management best practices and standards are adopted and incorporated into BU risk and control monitoring programs; build CRM brand and promote the value-add back to the BU
  • Provides management oversight in the planning and preparation of key risk reporting that supports the firm’s governance structures (i.e. reporting for Enterprise Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee) and enables increased SOC and BoD transparency around key risks and control issues, as well as the risk reporting produced for TDA business units
  • Develop overall strategy and deliver risk management training program(s) and risk management aids to RM team and business units, as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Solid background and related work experience in operational risk management – Deep knowledge of risk management concepts and internal controls, financial services industry practices and regulatory requirements
  • Strong understanding and prior management of ORM core programs and key initiatives; financial services industry experience preferred
  • Must be able to build network of relationships at all levels throughout the firm and effectively challenge, when necessary
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to probe sensitive issues by applying logic, analysis, experience, and business knowledge
  • Must demonstrate project management skills – planning and execution
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fluid environment and work both independently and as a team member
  • Proficiency in preparing and presenting information to senior leaders
  • Must be able to show managerial courage and engage in constructive dialogue with various levels of management
  • Ability to build effective teams, including developing and mentoring team members
  • Excellent management skills, including showing initiative and taking responsibility for team objectives and initiatives
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint), experience with operational risk applications preferred
  • 4 year College Degree
  • 8+ years related experience
  • 15+ years Total experience
  • Military education or experience may be considered in lieu of civilian requirements listed
