Sr Business Analyst, Data Governance

Role:

The Data Governance Platform Requirements Analyst is responsible for understanding the needs of the Enterprise Data Governance community, translating those needs into product requirements for the (Collibra-based) data governance platform and working with the developers and testers to ensure the requirements are implemented successfully. This platform is the hub to allow the Data Governance community to manage  business and technical metadata, data lineage, data profiling, data quality assessment and reporting as well as issue tracking.  The candidate must have an ability to document requirements using process flow diagrams and related specification documents, write user stories and acceptance criteria and review test cases and design documents.

The Senior Business Analyst works independently with little to no guidance and is naturally inquisitive and adept in communication, elicitation, facilitation, and modeling techniques.

Individuals demonstrate leadership in the business analysis discipline, mentor others, and apply their working knowledge of the company, industry, and/or business domain.

Responsibilities:

  • Solicits requirements using individual or group interviewing as well as best practice research
  • Organizes requirements into user stories, understanding dependencies and testing requirements
  • Captures detailed requirements specifications in standard formats
  • Works independently and with supervisory review on moderate to highly complex user requirements
  • Coordinates User Acceptance Testing of each release
  • Assists the business in determining if and how new systems or system enhancements may improve business processes and capabilities.
  • Liaises between business subject matter experts and technologists throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identifies and communicates risks and issues as well as possible solutions.
  • Shares observations and feedback on internal business analysis practices, processes, templates, tools, and training materials as well as any information
  • Provides input to user story prioritization
  • Provides direction for QA planning and strategy
  • Reviews test cases to ensure coverage and suitability
  • Prepare Release Notes
  • Outline and create Training Materials
  • Maintain Best Practices
  • Document Tips & Tricks

Requirements:

Candidate must possess:

  • 4 year college degree or equivalent experience
  • 7-10 years of related experience
  • Experience with business-level data and process modeling
  • Familiarity with data governance lifecycle and practices
  • Experience with Agile software development practices

Interpersonal skills:

  • Ability to establish relationships across the organization in order to gain understanding of needs of the user community
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Ability to effectively communicate at different levels across the organization
  • High energy level and strong work ethic and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem solving skills

Preferred knowledge and skills:

  • Facility with Visio, MS Office tools
  • Comfortable with presenting to small-medium groups
  • Ability to listen for requirements, not just requests
  • Experience with Collibra or other Data Governance platform from a user or designer perspective is a plus.
