Senior Analyst, Category Management

Role:

This position will work closely with Supply Management leadership, actively participate in developing category strategies, and lead strategic sourcing activities related to software, hardware, telecom and IT services across the TD Ameritrade enterprise.   This position also works closely with key business, finance and risk stakeholders, and suppliers, to optimize and develop effective cost reduction strategies, mitigate risk, and enhance client satisfaction, driving total value for the firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the formation of category and sourcing strategies, working closely with the Sr. Manager and his/her direct reports
  • Utilizes spend data, market information, and operational objectives to identify category and sourcing opportunities that will deliver long term value
  • Performs sophisticated supplier, market and internal analysis and makes recommendations for category and operational efficiencies
  • Prepares executive reports and category playbooks for Supply Management and internal stakeholders that illustrates recommendations for improvements and value creation for the organization
  • Interfaces with other business units to assess the strategic fit of sourcing opportunities within the larger organization as it relates to Enterprise categories
  • Acts as a change agent by communicating and implementing best practices related to strategic sourcing, category management and metrics
  • Leads the sourcing activities for assigned categories that may include but are not limited to: software, SaaS, hardware, telecom and IT services
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, develops sourcing strategies and action plans for new or improved supplier agreements to meet business needs
  • Facilitates all formal activities related to competitive bidding events.  Develops requests for proposals and manages the competitive bidding process
  • Develops strategies, prepares for, and leads supplier negotiations. Analyzes supplier proposals and recommends appropriate next steps in the negotiation process
  • Negotiates all business terms for contracts in the assigned categories and partners with Legal to facilitate negotiation of legal terms
  • Develops an in-depth understanding of TD Ameritrade and individual business units’ strategy, structure, challenges, and requirements as it pertains to Supply Management
  • Delivers relevant market intelligence and best practices to key stakeholders in support of their business objectives to illustrate value of Supply Management
  • Conducts business reviews, influences business strategy and identifies areas for continuous improvement
  • Develops communication materials for executive presentations targeting different stakeholder groups
  • Ensures internal client satisfaction throughout life cycle of projects
  • Manages the end-to-end supplier relationship, including quarterly reviews of supplier performance, contract compliance, and pricing for assigned categories
  • Facilitates the formation of supplier business reviews and strategic planning documents, provides strategic guidance as necessary
  • Develops strong relationships with key business partners and key suppliers to provide visibility and intelligence for the organization
  • Manages update of quarterly category goals, supports team interaction with senior management in gathering input, consolidating & synthesizing information

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in the acquisition and negotiation of IT categories. 
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and lead cross-functional teams
  • Advanced negotiation skills and demonstrated value contribution results
  • Advanced contract understanding with ability to provide guidance to stakeholders regarding impact of contract terms and conditions
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, energetic, positive, resourceful, and proactive
  • Excellent thought leadership skills with an ability to question assumptions
  • Strategic planning and critical thinking capabilities
  • Strong sense of integrity with ability to handle sensitive issues and maintain complete confidentiality

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • C.P.M. or CPSM preferred
  • 4 year college degree required
  • 4 year college in Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Business related field is preferred
  • 3-5 years related experience
  • 4-6 years total experience
  • Military education or experience may be considered in lieu of civilian requirements listed
