Role:

The Order Routing and Execution Service Analyst is responsible for the management of a multi-billion dollar order book while ensuring our order management practices are in compliance with SEC, FINRA, CFTC, and NFA regulations.  The position involves working in a fast-paced dynamic environment across multiple business units ensuring customer orders are being routed and executed in a timely and efficient manner.  Working closely with Technology, the team focuses on enhancing the scalability, efficiency, and performance of the firm’s order management system(s).

 

Responsibilities include monitoring and evaluating customer’s orders in equities, options, futures and forex during critical risk management decisions regarding trade related issues.    These decisions can potentially involve large monetary sums impacting both TD Ameritrade and our clients requiring risk mitigation and continuously striving for quality execution.  

 

As an experienced trader the role provides TDA’s corporate, institutional, and retail clients with market structure advice and execution services for non-traditional equity, option transactions, and basket/portfolios by managing potential market impact.   As a client advocate, building and maintaining rapport with external vendors is crucial for sustaining stable, consistent, and mutually beneficial business dealings.  By staying abreast of industry developments and market structure changes the team can evaluate potential impacts to the firm and its clients.  Our ultimate goal is to provide our clients the best retail trading experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor trading systems and market center connectivity to ensure order message traffic is flowing properly.
  • Research and rectify real-time order message exceptions between the order management system(s) and the market centers.
  • Accurately implement or revise routing rules and ratios per the order routing strategy directed by the firm.
  • Swiftly identify, diagnose, research, track, and resolve technical issues with market connectivity, trading systems, and/or back office systems while minimizing client impact and managing the firm’s risk exposure.
  • Conduct risk based scenario analysis to mitigate from risk when routing issues or market events occurs to ensure timely and effective resolution is delivered for our clients.
  • Intense focus on understanding each market we trade (equity, option, futures and forex), various order types and algorithms we offer, and our advanced order management systems in order to intelligently speak specifically about trading when conversing with vendors and affiliates or while educating our clients.
  • Answer phone and e-mail inquiries regarding order routing & execution to provide exceptional trade related support for internal and external customers.
  • Assist with the day-to-day clearance, settlement, and position reconciliation through order book management and reconciliation.
  • Conduct order routing and execution trade exception reviews to ensure clients are receiving the best execution possible.
  • Review and maintain the security master for appropriate order routing and/or trading restrictions to ensure compliance with industry rules and regulations as well as firm policy.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with our clients, business partners, vendors and affiliates by being available, trustworthy, knowledgeable, and reliable.
  • Fortify strong relationships with market centers by providing regular constructive feedback to improve our client’s trading experience.
  • Act as a client advocate by monitoring and/or resolving any trade related concerns to ensure clients are receiving the best execution possible.
  • Collaborate with business partners through cross functional team projects as it relates to improvements or changes that affect the firm and our clients.
  • Assist in the order book management of the firm’s omnibus order routing relationship(s).
  • Continuously leverage the better way (problem solving) to implement ideas that mitigate risk or provide value through technological innovation.
  • Exercise independent decision making ability to investigate and resolve order routing and execution related problems.
  • Escalate order issues when appropriate, exercising critical thinking, and independent judgment.
  • Analyze and adjust trading strategies by analyzing all pertinent market conditions and other various trade factors.
  • Disciplined risk estimation and management to identify the financial and market implications of firm error accounts.
  • Execute oversized trade jobs by share volume or notional value utilizing trading tools and strategies to achieve the best execution possible for all clients, affiliates, and peers.

Requirements:

  • 4 Year College Degree in Finance or a Business related discipline 
  • 2+ years related experience
  • 3+ years total experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the financial services industry and solid understanding of trading rules and regulations. 
  • Solid understanding of the life of an order from front-end order entry to routing and execution by venue to back-end trade reporting.
  • Thorough understanding of equities, options, futures and forex market structure.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently adjust to changes in fast paced, stressful environment without losing focus.
  • Strong communicator (written and verbal), able to effectively interact and coordinate with other departments and business units.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills to scope and frame problems.
  • Self-motivated and client centric oriented
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Primary areas of responsibility will require a high level of knowledge regarding TD AMERITRADE products and services, competitor information, policies and procedures, securities industry, Client service and trading.
  • Ability to work productively in a team setting geared toward creating innovative client solutions.
