Senior Instructional Designer

Role:

As a key member of the Learning and Development team, the Senior Instructional Designer (ID) will execute the instructional design process end to end by using a variety of instructional formats (ILT classroom, ILT webinars, TTT, e-learning.) The Senior ID will demonstrate and utilize effective needs analysis, project management, instructional material development, and evaluation skills to determine the needs of the learning initiative, and as needed deliver content. The Senior ID will produce multimedia e-learning content using rapid-development tools such as Articulate, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc. Design, develop and deploy support materials such as: Job Aids, Tool-Kits, Sharepoint sites, etc. The Senior ID will assist the Training Manager and Senior Manager in developing and executing learning strategies to enhance organizational effectiveness. The Senior ID will coach, mentor, and review materials created by other IDs and team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult with L&D management and business leaders to develop learning strategies that support organizational goals and effectiveness
  • The analysis phase clarifies the instructional problems and objectives, and identifies the learning environment and learner's existing knowledge and skills
  • The design phase deals with learning objectives, assessment instruments, exercises, content, subject matter analysis, lesson planning, and media selection
  • In the development phase, instructional designers and developers create and assemble content assets blueprinted in the design phase. In this phase, the designers create storyboards and graphics
  • The implementation phase develops procedures for training facilitators and learners. Train the trainer sessions
  • Measurement and evaluation
  • As needed, course facilitation
  • Review and edit current training materials to ensure that they remain instructionally sound, including evaluating projects against Evidence-Based Training principles
  • Sales Development
  • Product Adoption
  • Approve all content created to ensure that Adult Learning Theories and ADDIE have been effectively utilized
  • Participate in cross functional team to provide expertise related to training design

Requirements:

  • 4 Year College Degree required (Instructional Design preferred)
  • Graduate Degree preferred
  • 1 to 3 years related experience
  • 3 to 5 years total experience
  • SharePoint experience required 
  • Instructional design, script writing, storyboarding, learning technology (as a user, not necessarily as a developer), including web, animation, and video technology, proficiency/familiarity with social learning tools
  • Ability to select and apply appropriate instructional design principles, methodologies, and adult learning principles, in the design and development of all training materials
  • Ability to design and write for various instructor-led and online training formats including live workshops, e-learning, audio, video, and print manuals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Establish positive and collaborative working relationships with subject matter experts (SMEs) to achieve best solutions and mutual commitments to ensure a constructive two-way flow of information
  • Ability to work with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to coach and mentor others
  • 7, 63, 24 preferred, but not required
